pRED Cardiovascular & Metabolism, Immunology (CMI), located in Basel, Switzerland, focuses on the discovery and early development of innovative treatments for specific diseases that affect the lives of millions. In the cardiovascular and metabolism area, we are developing cutting-edge therapies to treat metabolic diseases. As a member of the metabolism group, you will be part of an international group that includes scientists and clinicians who are developing medicines for the future.
We are seeking for our Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases (CVM) department an experienced scientist with a strong industry background and a proven track record in the execution of preclinical projects in the area of Metabolic Diseases and Immunology.
In this role, you will design and execute experiments and lead projects to evaluate the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic candidates.
Key responsibilities:
Champion research projects from target ideation and validation, to entry into clinical development for both small- and large-molecule modalities.
Lead the positioning and prioritization of novel metabolic and immunological targets, integrating disease biology, translational biomarkers, and therapeutic modality selection to align with Roche’s CVM pipeline.
Demonstrate deep understanding of the science and create solid plans to collaboratively design, execute, and interpret complex preclinical experimental studies for the validation and characterization of targets or therapeutic agents
Direct, execute, and benchmark novel experiments, work together hand in hand with associates, and transfer standardized assays to associates
Act as a resource in project teams, and demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication
You possess a PhD degree in Life Sciences (muscle-/adipose-physiology, neuroscience, or metabolism), or a closely related discipline; and have >10 years of research and project leadership experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
Significant scientific accomplishments and successful collaborations documented by publications in high-impact journals
Ability to effectively present scientific data and concepts to colleagues, teams, and management is essential
Skillfully able to interact effectively with people, both internally and externally
Vigorous “can do” mentality to succeed in a dynamic and highly collaborative research team
